At Cavari, finish is not decoration. It is the last decision in a sequence of architectural choices one that determines how the room reads in light, how it ages, and what it communicates over time.
Each finish has been selected because it does something specific. None of them are interchangeable.
Antique Brass
Electroplated, then antiqued by hand — the darkening worked into the recesses one piece at a time rather than applied uniformly. No two are identical. A warm mid-brass with visible grain, sitting darker in the hollows and brighter across the raised faces.
"Aged by hand, not by time."
Brushed Stainless
A cool, directional grain produced by brushing in a single axis. The surface changes character as light angle shifts precise under direct illumination, textural under raking light. It does not warm, does not tamish, and does not age in ways that compromise it.
"Neither warm nor cold. It reads as architecture."
Brushed Gold
A warm gold brushed to a fine directional grain, satin rather than polished. Light gathers along the edges and curves and falls away across the flat faces, so the form is read through the way it holds the light. Softer than a polished gold, and steadier.
"Gold, brushed back from the shine."
Gunmetal Black
Applied by Physical Vapour Deposition, which bonds the finish to the metal rather than laying it over the top — considerably harder than an electroplated coating. The result is a near-black with a matte reflectance, holding a faint metallic depth at close range. Against pale stone it draws the form as a single dark line.
"The darkest thing in the room, and the quietest."
Satin Bronze
The darkest of the warm finishes — a deep brown-bronze that reads almost black in shade and shows its warmth only where light falls directly. The surface is smooth and low in lustre, absorbing light rather than returning it, so the form holds a soft edge against pale stone.
"Warmth, held back."
Aged Gold
Electroplated, then antiqued by hand — the softening worked into each piece individually rather than applied uniformly, so no two are quite alike. A muted gold with a fine matte surface that holds its tone flat rather than breaking it into highlights. It carries weight against panelling and against plaster equally.
"It has already aged. Nothing further is asked of it."
